HMI redesign for Universal Pack and MBP

In brief

We redesigned the operator interfaces of several Universal Pack and MBP machines, with a new design system, production dashboards and an interactive 3D view of the machine.

The project

We designed and delivered the redesign of the graphical interface (HMI) of several Universal Pack and MBP machines. For Universal Pack, the project was named Universal UI. The aim was to make the interface clearer and more intuitive, reducing operator errors and training time, and to turn it into a distinctive feature of the brand.

We started from a design system, the Universal Pack Design Language: a library of graphic components and usage rules designed for industrial touch screens, ensuring consistency across the entire machine range. We then reorganised the screens into functional areas, with quick access to the most frequently used commands.

Operators always have the machine status, messages and alarms under control. Customisable dashboards bring together production data and efficiency indicators such as OEE, while an interactive 3D view of the machine helps locate units and components instantly. For the launch, we produced a video presenting the new interface.
